This shot at a marketplace captures the bright, lively colors of a fruit stand. The marketplace is one of the ancient centers of the urban landscape. There, urbanites go to buy their essentials and also to meet and socialize with one another. Even with the advent of 24/7 supermarkets with their fluorescent lighting and aisles of frozen foods, many cities still manage to support an outdoor, open-air marketplace.
My mother is in her element when she’s at the marketplace. She socializes with the sellers and bargains up a storm with her haggling techniques. I am a bit shy when it comes to haggling so I usually end up settling for plunking down a slightly higher price for my market goods.
