Our photog correspondents from Japan have excellent coverage of the sights and attractions from this fascinating land in the East. This waterside view of Tokyo is no exception!

I liked this candid portrait of the child standing by the fortune stand. (Those are paper fortunes tied to wires… it looks like barbed wire, but it isn’t) I noticed on my travels through Japan that the concept of Shrines and Temples were different by definition, but each seemed to offer the same services and features. In a way, each establishment “borrowed” concepts (such as the fortune stands) to the point where each appears (to the culturally untrained) to be the same… when in fact, for the locals (and for those who know the purpose of shrines and temples) each has a special place in daily life and activities.

This cute closeup of a toy replica of the San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge fools the eye at first glance, and still looks compellingly realistic on second glance.

Here’s the name of a real village in the vicinity of Salzburg , Austria. The sign below reads:
Please – Not So Fast
Which yields a funny juxtaposition to the village monniker above… Just a little sophomoric humor to soften up today’s blog entries… hehe.

Oooh, a great lightning shot! Lightning actually frightens me but the effects of this natural light-show are just so amazing!
